General Information / Notification of New Topics
« Last post by John Steel (Administrator) on June 08, 2012, 03:19:05 PM »
By default you are not notified of any new topics posted. To ensure you are notified about any new posting you should turn on Notification for that particular board.
To turn on notification there is a button Notify at the top right of the screen when you are in any particular board, just click on this to turn on notification. You must do this separately for each board you are interested in, or you can do it only for topics you are interested in.
You will then be advised of the first item in any new topic if you have selected board notify or any new addition to a topic if you have selected a topic. But only the first change, no further notification will be sent unless you visit the board. This is to avoid you being inundated with notifications.
If you reply to any topic at the bottom of the page where you enter your reply there is a box to tick if you wish to add notification to the topic. You may have to click on the + sign next to Attachments and other options to see this box, is is normally ticked by default unless you have changed your options in your profile.
By turning on notification you will ensure that you do not miss any new topics that are posted.

The Forum is still being set up and you may notice changes from time to time. The theme of the board may change and work progresses.

There is an issue with those using earlier versions of Internet Explorer. If you are using the latest IE9 version all should be OK, if you are using earlier versions you may have issues with the menu's and alignment of certain parts of the site, this is being worked on.

If you find problems please let the webmaster know.

I will post again here when the site is in stable condition.

General Information / Notification

After you have joined the group you may wish to set up notification on certain boards. By default you are not notified about new posts, though you will be notified about replies to any post you have started or joined in.
To enable notification you must go the the board you want to be notified about, at the top of the screen towards the right you will see a NOTIFY button. Click on this. It will change to UNNOTIFY. Now you will get an email every time something new is posted to that board.
You must subscribe to notification separately on every board you wish to be notified about new posts.
If you want to check which boards you are set up for notification from you can go to your profile and under the Modify Profile menu item you will find Notifications which will show a list of all boards and topics you are currently subscribed to.
You can remove notification either by clicking on the UNNOTIFY button at the top right of each board page, or via the Modify Profile page.

You can set up other parameters for notification in your Profile area. If you click the Profile menu button and then the Modify Profile button and select Notifications you will see there are several items to set up. It is recommended you go there and set up as follows.
Tick all three boxes for notification.
From the two drop down lists select:
'Instantly' from the top one and 'Replies and Moderation' from the bottom one, this will ensure you get notified immediately of any posting to a board you have selected NOTIFICATION on. You can select other parameters if you wish and these are self explanatory, for example only getting notified once a day or once a week.
